Lingerie is very directly and strongly linked to a women’s intimacy. For centuries, men have always believed that lingerie was created with the objective of seduction. There is no question that this aim exists. However, by choosing to put on pretty, seductive underwear, all women develop a slightly self-centred, even narcissistic, behaviour and attitude. In fact, lingerie contributes to a woman’s sense of ease with her body and, in this way, she accepts and loves her body better, becoming more confident and showing real assurance. The reason for this is very simple. Surprisingly, even though nobody can see her underwear, it really accentuates a woman’s figure and can sometimes shape her body to satisfaction.
Lingerie has too often been treated as an element of seduction. Men themselves created this phenomenon: a woman clad only in her underwear seems infinitely more sensual and sexual than a woman entirely in the nude. One could associate underwear with high heels. The latter have an effect on how a woman walks, making her more attractive, seductive and provocative. When combined with stockings, high heels have a certain charge, and an undeniable fetishist quality, as much for women as for men.
The perception and appreciation of the female form has undergone many radical changes. We could compare, for example, our early 21st century perception, to the 1960s and 1970s. In the sixties, when a woman got married, and even more so when she became a mother, her body was no longer meant to be seductive. Today this attitude is completely outdated and obsolete. In fact, women feel the need to be attractive at all ages, both before and after marriage, and even during their later years. This can be illustrated by the fact that, these days, a grandmother can be a beautiful woman and wish to dress to her best advantage in alluring underwear which enhances her figure. This revolution in customs concerning underwear is linked directly to innovation and technical considerations in the design of undergarments, and is subject to historical events. The history of lingerie deserves to be studied here. Lingerie, as opposed to the world of fashion, is a state of mind. A woman can love lingerie and wish to enhance her figure from the age of 15 to 75! Ready-to-wear fashion is a completely different universe from that of underwear. Clothes are always aimed at a distinct age group: fashion for a 15 year old girl is different from that of a woman of 30. Underwear, meanwhile, is much more a question of attitude and how a woman feels: a larger woman can be happy with her body, accepting herself as she is, and wish to enhance her figure with beautiful underwear. So lingerie should meet all aspirations and suit every kind of woman.
Lingerie should be associated with pleasure for a woman. The element of seduction remains, especially with certain undergarments: some of them are fascinating and inevitably inspire attraction. Stockings and suspenders make a woman extremely attractive, even bewitching. Bustiers, waspies and brassieres can be worn under a transparent shirt. The effect of this is bound to be equivocal, ambivalent and extremely fascinating when seen by others, and very flattering for the woman dressed this way.
The essence and attitude of lingerie is all in suggestion. Three terms can be applied to lingerie today: elegance, seduction and comfort. These three ideas have to be combined when designing underwear, and any vulgarity has to be ruled out. To avoid this, underwear has to be humorous and fresh.
The world of lingerie affects everybody: women, who are wearing this underwear, as well as men, who believe women were wearing it merely to seduce them. The story of lingerie, as well as its history, deserves some attention
– The story of lingerie
I am 21 years old, but I feel wise beyond my years. even as a kid I always felt different & constantly misunderstood. in effect, that led to me feeling like I didn’t fit in anywhere (sometimes I still feel that way, but I’m working on it).Growing up made me realise it’s actually the biggest blessing to know yourself. All of your strengths & weaknesses because some people never do, they just float through life, trying to gain acceptance in order to seek some sort of validation (but everything you require you already possess). anyway, my point is, it’s cool to be yourself. showing emotion doesn’t make you weak. wearing your heart on your sleeve doesn’t make you dumb either. the world needs more love & you shouldn’t feel pressure to change yourself for anyone/anything or let life turn you cold.
You are beautiful, each and every single one of you. Don’t you dare ever forget that. You are worth so much, don’t let a temporary feeling make you do something that you won’t have time to regret. You’re here for a reason. Treat your body with respect. Love yourself for who you really are. Keep on smiling, show the world how strong you are. Stay beautiful.

1- PETER THOMAS ROTH 24K GOLD HYDRA-GEL EYE PATCHES, £56.48

2- PNURSE JAMIE UPLIFT FACIAL MASSAGING BEAUTY ROLLER, £55.00
No, it’s not a sex toy. This somewhat scary-looking device is a actually a beauty tool covered in tourmaline stones. When rolled along the skin the stones stimulate blood flow and energise sluggish cells, no wonder Khloé Kardashian calls it her ‘magic wand of beauty’.Hrush explains “I like to use the Nurse Jamie skin roller before applying makeup. Everyone always thinks they need so much coverage but they don’t, if you freshen up the skin with the roller it’ll get the blood flowing to the surface, this revitalises the complexion and you won’t as much coverage.”
3- LA MER THE SOFT FLUID LONG WEAR FOUNDATION, £85.00
“I’m obsessed with La Mer’s foundation” says Hrush. “It has a sheer-to-matte finish that’s incredibly buildable, plus the coverage is insane. You can tailor the finish depending on how you apply it, a brush will give a dewier look, whilst a beauty blender will give a matte finish.
4- MAYBELLINE NEW YORK INSTANT ANTI-AGE THE ERASER EYE, £8.99

7- MAYBELLINE NEW YORK VIVID MATTE LIQUID IN NUDE FLUSH, £7.99
“I think a light mauve is the most universally flattering lip colour. I actually really love the Maybelline Matte Liquid Lipstick, I feel like on my skin tone it looks mauvey, on a more tanned skin tone it looks like a deep nude, and then on a darker skin tone it looks like a true nude.” Says Hrush.

9- MAYBELLINE NEW YORK GREAT LASH MASCARA, £4.99

“When I started out as a makeup artist I think that I was very closed off to sharing and engaging, because I wanted to ‘keep my secrets’. But now I feel like I evolve every single month, my products change, my preferences change – although I do have some staple pieces that are my holy grail beauty items.
I find that sharing and educating others about how to make themselves beautiful is something that has completely changed for me, now I enjoy sharing the products and techniques that I’m using. I love sharing beauty knowledge and helping to educate people.”
My advice to others…
“If you’re a new makeup artist or you’re just starting out in the beauty industry I would say to you, never stop and never take no for an answer. I know that it sounds cliché, but if I had really listened to everyone in the beginning (I’ve been doing makeup for 12 years now) I would have stopped a long time ago. To be honest, I probably would have cried myself to sleep at night!
So I would say just ignore negativity. Obviously it’s important to listen and learn from constructive criticism, don’t just presume you’re the best at what you do, because there is always more to learn, but also, never give up.”

1. Brows come first
When your brows look good it doesn’t matter what else you have on your face. But if they’re off, they can be distracting. Even if I have no other makeup on my face, my brows will be done. I like to draw in the brows even before applying moisturizer because when eyebrows are damp, they don’t pick up the color as softly. I like to go for the wispy natural effect. I hate when people overdraw their brows. They can be big but they don’t have to be boomerangs on your face
2. Cocktail your sun protection
Definitely tone down the SPF in your moisturizer and foundation. When you’re under bright lights, you really don’t want too much SPF on your face because you get flashback and it makes you look white. You could end up looking like a ghost.
3. Layer highlighter under foundation
I like a light contour for the red carpet, but I love strobing because it really makes it look like your foundation is just skin. Strobing has been around forever, but I think it’s very pretty to have underneath foundation because it creates, like, an optical illusion. It shines through your foundation so you’re just glowing, and it can be convincing that you don’t even have foundation on.
4. Prep with milk of magnesia
The lights can literally melt your makeup off. You could go in one way and come out another. If you use milk of magnesia before applying anything to your face, it creates something like a plastic layer so the foundation never sinks into the skin. It basically coats the face. It makes sure your foundation stays on no matter what lighting you’re under.
5. Bronze is the new black (for eyes)
I feel like bronzes are the best way to go because silvers can look too gloomy and too much black can make you look like a raccoon. You can turn out unpredictable in pictures. Bronzes and browns are your best insurance that you’ll look good in any light.
6. Invest in lip primer
Just like our face needs primer, I like to use a lip primer too. When our lips are primed, everything stays on way longer. So the lip is smooth I always do a lip scrub first, then ChapStick to make sure it’s moisturized. To finish I always go around the lip with a light translucent powder to stop the lipstick from getting leaky. And this is so important: I always say drink out of a straw.

I know your scared and worried that people may not accept you for being you or that they will say things about you suddenly acting different or being different and all I can say is let them. It’s good give them something to talk about but don’t let them hold you back and don’t hold yourself back either. Let the real you come out and be whoever you want, do whatever you want and just be happy. We only get one life we have every right to live it the way we want. And if people don’t accept you or say horrible things about you then you know they aren’t worth having in your life. Because the people that truly love and care about you will embrace you no matter what.

“Do not stop. Do not stop believing in yourself, in your dreams. Believe in everything you want even in times when you are uncertain of yourself. When you’re not sure if you can make it through but you know you still want it, whatever it may be, you need it. You need it so bad that suffering won’t even deter you. You are craving it, your goals, your dreams, your future. Don’t stop pulling through. We all fail, we all slip up, we all lay in the mud sometimes, we all think we’re are giving up by laying down and wishing we didn’t want it. But, no matter how hard we try, we still want it. That, that alone is what will give you it. The never ending image of that success and of that life that you could have. It is all you need. Do not stop. Do not let yourself down. If you can’t stop thinking about it, you will get up and you will try again. Just keep going.”

Don’t believe the war is simply the work of politicians and capitalists. Oh no, the common man is every bit as guilty; otherwise, people and nations would have re- belled long ago! There’s a destructive urge in people, the urge to rage, murder and kill. And until all of humanity, without exception, undergoes a metamorphosis, wars will continue to be waged, and everything that has been carefully built up, cultivated and grown will be cut down and destroyed, only to start allover again!
Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl
Anne Frank is a Jewish girl who has to go into hiding during World War Two to avoid the Nazis. Together with seven others she hides in the secret annex on the Prinsengracht 263 in Amsterdam. After almost 2 years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding.
Life in germany
Anne Frank was born on 12 June 1929 in the German town of Frankfurt am Main. Her father’s family had lived here for generations. Anne’s sister, Margot is three and a half years older. The economic crisis, Hitler’s rise to power and growing antisemitism put an end to the family’s carefree life. Otto Frank and his wife Edith decide, just as many other German Jews, to leave Germany.
A new life in the Netherlands
Otto can set up a business in Amsterdam and the family finds a home on the Merwedeplein. The children go to school, Otto works hard in his business and Edith looks after the home. As the threat of war in Europe increases, Otto and his family try to emigrate to England and the U.S.A. but these attempts fail. On 1 September 1939 Germany invades Poland and World War Two starts.
For a while there is hope that The Netherlands will not become involved in the war, but on 10 May 1940 German troops invade the country. Five days later The Netherlands surrenders and is occupied. Anti-Jewish regulations soon follow. Jews are allowed to go to less and less places, Anne and Margot must attend a Jewish school and Otto loses his business.
When a renewed attempt to emigrate to the U.S.A. fails, Otto and Edith decide to go into hiding. Otto furnishes the house behind his business premises on the Prinsengracht and this becomes the hiding place. He does this together with his Jewish business partner Hermann van Pels and help from employees Johannes Kleiman and Victor Kugler.
On 5 July 1942 Margot Frank receives a call-up to report for a German work camp. The next day the Frank family goes into hiding. The Van Pels family follow a week later and in November 1942 an eighth person arrives; dentist Fritz Pfeffer . They remain in the secret annex for just over two years.
The people in hiding must stay very quiet, they are often afraid and despite good and bad times, spend most of it together. They are helped by the office workers Johannes Kleiman, Victor Kugler, Miep Gies and Bep Voskuijl, by Miep’s husband Jan Gies and warehouse boss Johannes Voskuijl, Bep’s father. These helpers not only arrange food, clothes and books, they are contact with the outside world for the people in hiding.
The Hiding place
The hiding place is located in an empty section of the building owned by Otto Frank’s company. While business continues, as usual, in the front part of the building, there are people hiding in the annex out back.
The business on Prinsengracht 263 is in the area where many small companies are located. There is a tea company located on the left and a furniture company on the right of the Secret Annex
The hiding place at 263 Prinsengracht is relatively spacious. There is enough room for two families. This is unusual given that parents and children who go into hiding are frequently separated from each other. Most hiding places are small spaces in damp cellars or dusty attics. People hiding in the countryside are sometimes able go outside, but only if there is no danger of them being discovered.
A bookcase conceals the door
Before too long, the entrance to the Secret Annex is concealed behind a movable bookcase. Father Voskuijl, the warehouse manager, constructs the movable bookcase to conceal the entrance to the Secret Annex.
“Now our Secret Annex has truly become secret…Mr. Kugler thought it would be better to have a bookcase built in front of the entrance to our hiding place. It swings out on its hinges and opens like a door. Mr. Voskuijl did the carpentry work. (Mr. Voskuijl has been told that the seven of us are in hiding, and he’s been most helpful.),”
Anne writes this in her diary on August 21, 1942, when there there are still only seven people in hiding. Fritz Pfeffer joins the group at a later date, on November 16, 1942.
A diary as a best friend
Shortly before going into hiding Anne receives a diary for her birthday. She starts writing straightaway and during her time in hiding she writes about events in the secret annex and about herself. Her diary is a great support to her. Anne also writes short stories and collects her favorite sentences by other writers in a notebook.
When the Minister of Education makes a request on the radio for people to keep war diaries, Anne decides to edit her diary and create a novel called ‘The Secret Annex’. She starts to rewrite her diary, but before she has finished, she and the other people in hiding are arrested.
On 4 August 1944 the people in hiding along with helpers Johannes Kleiman and Victor Kugler are arrested. Via the Sichterheidsdienst headquarters, prison and transit camp Westerbork they are deported to Auschwitz. The two helpers are sent to the Amersfoort camp. Johannes Kleiman is released shortly after his arrest and six months later Victor Kugler escapes. Immediately after the arrest Miep Gies and Bep Voskuijl rescue Anne’s diary and papers that have been left behind in the secret annex. Despite intensive investigations it has never been clear how the hiding place was discovered.
Otto Frank Returns
Frank is the only one of the eight people in hiding to survive the war. During his long journey back to The Netherlands he learns that his wife, Edith, has died. He knows nothing about his daughters and still hopes to see them again. He arrives back in Amsterdam at the beginning of July. He goes straight to Miep and Jan Gies and remains with them for another seven years.
Otto Frank tries to find his daughters but in July receives news that they have both died of disease and deprivation in Bergen-Belsen. Miep Gies then gives him Anne’s diary and papers. Otto reads the diary and discovers a completely different Anne. He is very moved by her writing.
Anne wrote in her diary that she wanted to be a writer or a journalist and that she wanted her diary published as a novel. Otto Frank’s friends convince him of the great expressiveness of her diary and on 25 June 1947, ‘The Secret Annex’ is published in an edition of 3.000. Many more editions, translations , a play and a film follow .
People from all over the world learn of Anne Frank’s story. Over the years Otto Frank answers thousands of letters from people who have read his daughter’s diary. In 1960 the Anne Frank House becomes a museum. Otto Frank remains involved with the Anne Frank House and campaigns for human rights and respect until his death in 1980.
